Loadprint

The mark your work leaves on the Mac.

After a few days of quiet sampling, Loadprint explains where the machine struggled, which processes were heavy when pressure rose, and what to prioritize on the next Mac — without naming a model or a RAM SKU.

Free. Apple Silicon. macOS 14+. Unsigned preview until a notarized build exists — Gatekeeper will warn.

Quiet in the menu bar

A small mark, not a gauge. It stays neutral until kernel memory pressure is actually warning or critical — then yellow or red. Click to open; close the window and sampling continues.

A glance while the report cooks

Now shows pressure, swap, P-cores, and GPU from stored heartbeats. The live glance is a courtesy so the wait is not a blank hole. It is not an iStat clone.

A report after real work

A useful write-up needs a few days of mixed ordinary use. If there is not enough, Loadprint says so. It never invents a bottleneck, and sleep is a gap — not guessed calm.

Next Mac, not a shopping list

The report ranks unified memory, chip, storage, or none — plus battery service when Apple’s health signals call for it. It will not tell you to buy 32 GB or name a model.

Stays on this Mac

Loadprint records memory pressure, swap, CPU, GPU, SSD, thermal state, the frontmost app’s bundle ID, and the heaviest processes only when pressure changes. No window titles, URLs, documents, or keystrokes. Nothing is sent off the Mac. Notifications are requested once, when the first report is ready. Observations live in ~/Library/Application Support/Loadprint/.

What it is not

  • Not a cleaner, memory purger, or process killer.
  • Not a live dashboard that polls like Activity Monitor.
  • Not for Intel Macs, and not under Rosetta.
  • Not advice to upgrade this soldered machine.
